The movement "We stand with Standing Rock" demonstrates in front of the headquarters of the Dutch bank ING to ask them to stop investing in the North Dakota Pipeline.
Indeed, the pipeline route crosses the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and creates a huge risk of leakage and pollution for the population. Various debates and demonstrations took place in the Netherlands with ING's head of Business Ethics Mr Cohen Stuart, to influence ING's decision.
In Mars 2017, ING has finally accepted to sell the loan and then to stop financing the pipeline. More information here.
